AboutDesigned for the 6 to 18-year old skier, Afton Alps Alpine D-Team is an introductory ski racing program. Our goal is to teach our athletes race techniques through competitions against other area development teams.This is a 12 week program which includes coaching, supervision, and entry fees to competitions. Athletes will compete within their own age group, and there are separate Boy's and Girl's Divisions.Race Events consist of two alpine disciplines:Slalom - Skiers will race through a series of relatively tight or closely set gates or poles. Best time of two runs is used toward an overall time.Giant Slalom - Skiers will race through a relatively open course of gates. Best of two runs is combined with best slalom time for an overall time.Afton Alps offers both Saturday and Sunday teamsSaturday Practices are held 10:00AM to 3:00PM with an hour break for lunch (bring lunch or money)Sundays Practices are Noon until 4:00PMTuesday Practices are 6:30 until 8:30 additional charges applyThere is an Award Ceremony after the competitions where ribbons are awarded to the top places in each age group/division.PLEASE NOTE: Transportation to competitions, and lift tickets at competitions are not provided.
